ive been looking for chain/sprockets combo to replace on 03 VFR, my owners manual shows it as a vfr 800a/intercepter/abs

read one site says: The first is the VFR800Fi which was sold from late 1997 until 2001. Late in 2001 the VFR800 VTEC replaced it. It received a mixed reception.

    so i cant have a 03 Fi?

I'm looking at this set, seems best price so far: but its shows: Fits: Honda VFR800 Fi Interceptor 02-09

    http://www.amazon.com/D-I-D-DKH-004...8&qid=1385927211&sr=1-16&keywords=did+530+110

so is there a 03 Fi model? do some sites just call it Fi and i can ignore if it's 03? there was only one VFR in 03 correct? it's the bike i have. also is that kit right? 16t front, 43t rear but i see some sprockets that are 43t rear but dont have 6 holes that would fit on vfr even though they say 03 vfr, hate generic pictures on some of these web sites.

One '03 model only. That's the right kit, all the same '02-'09. '98-'01 also the same except those had a 17t front sprocket.

thanks, seems like allot of these sites have wrong nomenclature for the years but guess if same part covers multiple models makes some sense.

i ordered the kit, that kit going almost $300 some sites, allot of places have just that chain for as much or more as that amazon kit as well. also got some dupont chain saver and 4 new NPK plugs, white lith grease for new lever installs.

i really need to stop now, amazon was $220 total, also ordered new levers, light tinted headlight covers. xmas list i put on yoke cover, tinted turn signal covers and a short dark smoke windscreen. can't wait to put everything on and stare at bike for another 4 months....:(

They can be money pits. The A in the '02-up signifies ABS, which was an option. So there is an VFR800 and VFR800A in the Honda parts universe. The marketing universe, Fi vs. VTEC vs. Interceptor, is just marketing.

Our 6th gen is a VFR800Fi add a /A if you have an abs model. Mine has abs so is vfr800fi/a. But everything is identical to the standard model save I have an abs pump and module and two extra sensors. The harness is even the same. Downside, my bike is 35lbs heavier, but im not worried about that.
