    hi guys,

does anyone know if the mounting points for the engine are the same between the gen 5 FI and the gen 6 VTEC?
the gen 6 looks like the better bike but the vtec and cam chain problems give me the jibbers. if possible id like to buy a gen 6 with high milage and swap the engine for a gen 5 engine with no unnecessary vtec crap.

if anyone could advise me if this is possible without having to locate 2 engines myself and measure them up it would be fantastic.
    thanks

I read a write up on the Honda VFR club web site where a guy took a fifth generation motor and put it in a sixth generation bike. He was happy with the outcome. I think the motor does bolt in but he had to have custom vale cover work done to use the sisth generation sperk plug coils since they are an all in one coil pug deal.

DGW - if you come across that link, then please post it. That would be an awesome project and I'd be curious to see the result. I owned a 5th Gen before my 6th, so I know both bikes well.

You might just consider leaving the Vtec out. Run 16 valves full time. The mid range might be impressive.
