$400.00 ??? Really!?? I posted links to whole running bikes earlier today for $600 to $800... If that's what the wheels go for I'm gonna start parting out 3rd gens

One just sold on ebay 3 days ago for $375 - nice condition, but original finish with some chips and dings - looked like from a '93. Perfectly nice running bikes being parted out seems to be a rising phenomenon - worth more as separate pieces than can be had as a unit. It's too bad - later on nice examples will get increasingly difficult to find with that happening.

Yes, 3d Gen wheels in good shape go for $350 - $500. Unless you find an original one in your color, you're not going to find any nicer ones. This one was professionally stripped, cleaned & powder coated. I can have a new tire put on for you & then all you have to do is bolt the wheel onto any 3rd, 5th or 6th Gen & ride away. These things are not cheap, but I guarantee you're not going to find one in better condition for cheaper.

I wonder if someone from this forum bought the one that sold on Ebay. I was one of the bidders on it but $300 was my max bid. I've had pretty good success in the past finding parts through salvage yards but they usually won't guarantee the condition of the wheel since it might be coming from another salvage yard across the country.

I paid $350 for mine about 2 years ago, with the finish needing touchup. It looks decent, but could use new powdercoat. I would be in deeper than $400 to get it to the condition KC-10FE's is in. Like anything else that's getting scarce, if you want it bad enough ya just gotta man-up and bid.
