Anyone have any ideas how to solve the problem? My cooling fan will run but intermittently it needs help to start spinning. Frequently I have to actually stick my hand up inside the bike and manually turn the fan for it to start spinning. Ive got a 2007 VFR 800.

Your fan probably stuck, pull it out and look for debris check for clearance as well. It might be stuck due to a drop to the side.

Mine got stuck early on in my ownership. It was actually popping the fuse. A good cleaning and its been problem free for 5 years now. Wouldn't hurt to check and make sure all your connections down there are good; no broken/crimped wires, fan is not rubbing against anything, etc.

Clean fan thoroughly but check for corrosion at the connectors. Corrosion can cause a drop in voltage down the line and keep your fan from cranking.

(but the fan is probably crappy/dirty and needs cleaned and a drop of oil.)

Cheesy fan motors made cheap as possible--they don't use bearings but just plain bushings. Steel shaft gets a little moisture and rusts and locks up the bushing. WD40 or light spindle oil can be used to free up the bushing and get some motion back. Worse case the motor stalls and draws maximum current which melts the brush holder into a pile of plastic goo before the fuse blows...
