I am approaching 600 miles on my 2007 and have noticed a couple of things. It is going in for it's service soon and I wanted to run this by you first.

When going around town if I pull the clutch in and hold it I feel a clicking or slapping in my rearsets. It is fully disengaged. The chain tension seems to be ok. Once I re-engage the clutch it goes away. Coasting should be nice and smooth/quiet right?

Under relatively strong braking the front brakes seem to vibrate/groan on a non-abs model.

The back brake seems pretty weak. I know it will never be as good as the front but still?

Any other things people have noticed that I should look for or have them check?

I'm getting both looked at but was looking for similar experiences/fixes in case I get the old "It's normal" from the stealership.

    Thanks for your input.

I haven't noticed any of those issues on my '07. Keep in mind that even though you don't have ABS, your brakes are still linked. When you apply pressure to the rear, you are only applying partial pressure to it and most of it is going to the front. Same goes for the front.

I thought the brakes on my VFR were great until I replaced the pads with EBC's and bled everything on my V-Strom. Now the brakes on it are so much better than my VFR I think I'm going to do the same thing to it.

I think a lot of it is bleeding everything properly. My VFR brakes just feel kind of "Spongy" and I think a little TLC would help them a great deal.

Relatively strong breaking, leads to vibration/groan.

I used to get that on my VTX1800. Check the fluid in the lower tank that serves the rear brake. The cap on that bike was loose, and the fluid has taken on water. It diminished the breaking to the rear and to one piston one the front caliper. I blead the rear, and it solved the problem.

That may be it, or.... you could be getting very close to impending lock up. that's is the only vibe I've got from the brakes on my '06 Interceptor.

    Good luck.
