Is the 5th Gen throttle all mecanic or are there electronics involved? I'm asking because I had an incident where the motor suddenly revved uncontrollable when taking off, and I need advice on what the shop has to check to find a possible cause for this behavior.

It is purely mechanical in that cables are used to turn the throttle shafts, which in turn controls a TPS sensor. Not 100% sure how that could happen unless the cable got stuck......curious to hear the outcome.

Someone on my Norwegian mc forum suggests failure in the TPS sensor. I don't think it was a stuck cable since I was hardly applying any throttle when it happened.

Yeah...the TPS is really the only thing that may cause that if it had an erroneous voltage spike from a bad potentiometer. There will be a test to check that it has a smooth transition from say 0-5 volts (check the manual for voltages) as you move the throttle, with no jumpyness or voltage spikes, etc.

sounds like a loose wiring plug or intermittent short somewhere.
