When one upgades to lets say an ohlins suspension system what are
the advantages they are looking for? More adjustability, better ride, handling
performance? My bike feels a little soft and I am trying to justify an upgrade.

Just what you said.....more adjustability being the keep factor which equates to a better ride, and handling.

If you bike is just too soft, you can try adjusting the preload up a notch or two, or you can add some aftermarket (stiffer) fork springs from Racetech, or wherever. Of course aftermarket suspension is always going to be better, but it also costs some $$$$.

When I first got my '98, it took me a whole 3 weeks to decide I wasnt gonna put up with the pogo stick piece of crap suspension on the thing. Since doing the upgrade, it feels like a totally different bike. An absolute day and night difference. Feels like a brand new bike. Worth every cent and minute of agravation that I spent doing it. Now handling feels hardwired to my brain, it just rails. The bike is so good now, I will never sell it!
