This isn't a debate on wether the vfr needs a damper...it's getting one! I went down on my vf500 years ago at 75 mph with a tank slapper (riding one handed and must have hit a piece of gravel) I went through six layers of leather on my elbow pad. Could have sanded my elbow off or worse. Once you've had that you want the insurance.

The question is...what are my options? Obviously Scotts is the predominant one but holy Moses, it's expensive! And it takes up the spot where I wanted to put a RAM ball for my phone. The pin on the Scotts that comes up from the tank bolts looks cheesy and too thin the handle the leverage, but maybe I'm wrong. Do you install the bolts with blue locktite?

What else is out there for a 2000 VFR800? Are any of the straight cartridge ones worth a hoot? Easy instal? Pictures of yours installed would help big time.

Anyone got a used one they want to sell?
