I am a new owner of a 2000 5th gen. It came with a Staintune exhaust. The sound is really incredible, but I can see myself wishing it was a little quieter on long trips.

Question is: Is there a silencer that can be added to turn it down a bit?

I had a 6th gen with Leo Vince exhausts. At the end pipe coming out of the muffler was a smaller piece of silencer pipe held in place by a small screw, inserted from the bottom.

    Thoughts?

Yes, they came with a "db killer". 20180421_192210.jpg

    That’s what I need!

I tried contacting Staintune but no reply.

I finally made the time to pull the decibel killer out of the exhaust.
I truly despise having to figure and pay taxes to the government. Why does it have to be so convoluted? Anyway, that is done for now. Back to the task at hand.
Here are some measurements for reference so that if you don't have the DB killer and would like to have one fabricated, you at least have a start. Note that the caliper is marked only in inches, It is the only one that I have, if you want metric values you will need to do the conversions on your own. This is the high mount pipe version.
The DB killer ( some call it a “stub” ) fits very tightly in the end of the pipe, and is made of stainless steel just like the rest of the Staintune. Held in place by a 6mm stainless bolt washer and lock washer combination.
The last photo is looking down the throat from the back end, by which you will notice that the two smaller pipes are welded together at an angle, the inner one being approximetly 1/10 inch smaller inside dimension. 20210416_194554.jpg

You can buy decibel killers of any size & shape on eBay. I've bought many different types and use them on both my car and my various bikes to allow me to run them more quietly in the yard. The pictures show how I silenced the open exhaust on my car with a couple I bought on eBay, to allow me to take it for an MOT test! A quick search on eBay UK revealed 4,000+ listings!

Thanks for the tip. I checked as you suggested but don’t see anything that would work, particularly since it’s an angled baffle.
