Does anyone know of an NGK or other aftermarket wire kit that works on the 5th gen? The OEM wires are obscenely expensive, around $220 for a full set on bikebandit.

Honda's OEM sparkplug wires are of unusually superior quality and seldom fail. Most of us with mid-80's bikes are still using the original wires. The attachment points between the wires and the caps can become loose or corroded and can be improved by cutting back the wire ends a few mms and re-attaching the caps.

What makes you believe your plug wires need replacement ??

I'm doing a 70k mile tune up and the last one I did at 40k they were looking kinda filthy, figured I'd replace them this time, since oil has been seeping onto them and softening the rubber.
