5th Gen Shifting Works w/o Clutch

My 1999 VFR with 33,000 miles shifts without using the clutch. If memory serves, it did at 23,000 when I bought it. I use Honda HP4 oil. Is that normal behavior for this model? I don't like it. I bled the hose and slave cylinder, and there's no bubbles in the fluid and it looks clear. Maybe I need new friction plates and springs, I dunno. What's your clutch experience with this model?

 

all modern bikes can shift w/o a clutch. load pedal with pressure, roll off throttle very briefly, voila, next gear.
