I just took my chain and sprockets off for a clean up and replacement.
I put it all back together today and now have an issue.

I pulled the clutch lever in on the first startup while on the center stand, kicked it down into first gear and the bike dropped into gear. This is a good thing...when the clutch is engaged. I want it to be in neutral when the clutch lever is pulled in.

So I pulled it apart again, bled the line, pumped the lever like a mad man...
The bike still goes into gear regardless of the clutch lever position.

I found a thread on here about applying the brake to try and "seat" the clutch/tranny.
    No dice.

    What am I missing?

You must have messed something up with the slave cylinder when you pulled the front sprocket cover off. Pull it back off and make sure its seated properly. Make sure the clutch pushrod re-engages the slave cylinder properly. It will take the rear brake to stop the rear wheel from spinning even with the clutch pulled the whole way in though. Multi plate clutches have a noticeable amount of drag.

Yup, BWeiss, that is the deal.

Pulled it off. Manually pushed the slave cylinder in and squeezed the lever and felt it the cylinder push back out.
Carefully seated the push rod when replacing the slave cylinder. Worked the lever some more to build up pressure in the system.

Still no real effect from the clutch lever when switching from neutral to first.

But if you apply the rear brake with the lever pulled in will the wheel stop spinning? The bike wont magically go into neutral when you pull the clutch in, it will still be in gear, just the clutch will be released and dragging slightly. You can expect the rear wheel to freewheel when it is on the centerstand.

Yup...I went through that last season and with my attention span, I'll likely go through it again next chain/sprocket change. =)

The rear wheel stops with a good amount of brake pressure, then spins again when the brake is released.
Before doing all of this, the wheel would freewheel, but if stopped it would not start again.

So you think if it were on the ground and I did this the bike would not lurch forward when I put it in gear?
