Do the 5th gen and 4th gen engines sound the same? My 5th generation that I have been riding sounds like a higher pitch than the 4th. Is it my imagination, is something wrong or need adjusted or is that just the way it is?
    Thanks.

To the un-initiated, a 4th or 5th Gen VFR will sound strange, almost like something is wrong. It's just the cams serenading you. The two should sound very similar but I can tell them apart just by listening.

The 5th gen can be even louder on one side (right - I think) as the cam gears are end mounted vs. 4th gen in the center.

Dang beat me to it. Yes they actually do sound a wee bit different, as noted the 5th gens gear drive is on the outside of the engine, where as the 750s is in the middle. I have also noticed just a wee bit more high pitch tone out of the 5th gens, not bad mines ya, where as the 750s is more a deeper mellow wine probably due in part to its location difference. Cool huh?

The 750 (721) 4th gen is a longer stroke - maybe that has something to do with it.
