OK. I've now run thru everything and everyone looking for the answer.

2001, 51K mi. I noticed back in August that I had almost no friction zone. Clutch doesn't engage until the last half inch. Since then, I've: replaced the MC piston and seals, cleaning the MC completely using air to blow out the supply and bleed holes; replace the clutch fiber discs (the originals were still well within spec), replaced the slave cylinder seal. The engagement point is still waaay out there. The clutch does not slip at all. In contrast, my friend's '99 begins engagement 1/3 to 1/2 halfway released - a real friction zone. I'm aware that his most likely has the judder spring setup ('98-'99), mine does not.
So - what am I missing ? There's no air in the line (which would have the opposite effect).

As one of my friends said; "it's like it's moving too much fluid, thereby moving the pressure plate out farther than it needs".

Have you replaced your clutch springs Scott?

My '95 Ducati 900SS had that exact same problem,a new set of Barnett heavy duty clutch springs took care of it.

Ooops - forgot to mention - I already replaced the springs with Barnetts a few years ago.
    Thanks for the reminder!

Take the front sprocket cover off. Take off the slave cylinder, then pull out the clutch rod and clean it. Sometimes they get gummed up/sticky.
