520 chain/sprocket conversion

Have any of you Viffers tried the 530 to 520 chain conversion? If you have done so, I have a few questions.
1. Is it necessary to adjust the chain more often than with the original 530 type chain?
2. Can you notice any difference regarding acceleration?
It's time to replace the chain and sprockets on my 2000 VFR, so just wondering if I should venture into 520 land. Thanks eddie

Can't say I have noticed any difference that I would attribute to the switch from 530 to 520, as I changed the gearing at the same time. A good quality chain was cheaper in 520 though.

 

eddie cap, did you end up doing the conversion to 520? I am looking to do the same with my 02. I have heard differing opinions on this subject (as expected), but wondered what you thought of the results so far? I want to do the 530 to 520 conversion with steel front -1 and aluminum rear +2. The sprockets are vortex (black aluminum rear) and the chain is DID gold/black x-ring. The chain rating is 145 hp I believe.

 

Ratio front/rear is 1/3,in this case it´s 5 more at rear.This should give you big improvement...rev build up,acceleration...let us know after mod.
