520 Chain And Sprocket Kits

Does Any One Know Of A 520 Chain And Sprocket Conversion Kit That Fits The 98-2001 Vfr 800?? The Stock Sprockets And Chain Are Very Heavy For A Bike Of This Displacement. Ian

I RIDE A Y2K VFR. my son rides a 2003 954rr fireblade. i told him i need new chain and sprockets and his reply was why don't i change to 520 chaingear and reduce the turning mass, weight and drag. my answer was i don't ride a 954rr and don't want that kind of bike. yesterday i bought a RK 530XSO chain for $95.99 at www.cyclegear.com and ordered the two sprockets in steel with standard count. chain is guaranteed for 20k miles and i expect to get the mileage and the riding fun from a great bike.....the VFR.
almost all chain and sprocket companys make what you want. AFAM and VORTEX both online listings for stock or other choices. YOUR bike is what you make it!

I too would like to decrease rotating mass and make it lighter.
Would also be interested in an answer to original question.

the chain and rear sprocket are listed on the web page. i am sure they have the front but don't list a 17 tooth. if you went with the 16 tooth, that would be the accelleration kit number but your speedo would be off more than it is now. there are other companys that do the kits, but then i don't want to do all your search fun!

Does anyone know the weight difference btw. a 530 chain and sproket set vs. a 520
