I have a question about the low beams on my 4th Gen.

Are both low beams supposed to work simultaneously when you turn the ignition on? (When I turn the ignition switch on only the left low beam works, the right does nothing!)

I swapped new bulbs in the right side and I still get no low beam on the right side.

When I flip the high beam switch both high beams come on.

Does anyone know if this is correct? If it isn't correct do you know what the problem may be?

It is like some of the newer bikes that have only one headlight lit when on low beam is on then when they switch over to high beam they both work.

I bought the bike salvaged from an auction so I don't know what the previous owner/s did to the bike.

    Thanks,

    Kent

Both low beam lights should be on when you turn the keyswitch on Kent. Your 4th gen. is not equipped with asymmetrical lighting which uses a single filament H7 bulb in each headlight. Left side bulb lit for low beam operation, left and right side bulbs lit for high beam operation like my RC51. Your 4th gen. uses a dual filament H4 bulb in each headlight socket for high/low beam operation. Both sides lit for low beam operation, both sides lit for high beam operation.

If you plugged a known working bulb into the right side headlight socket and the low beam didn't light up I would suggest that you get your test light out and start back probing the wire that supplies power to the low beam side of the right headlight socket. Find out where you're losing power. Check for corroded terminals, frayed or broken wiring, etc.

Congrats on scoring yourself a 4th gen. Kent,Good Luck with your bike.

    Hi Donk,
When I got my '95, it looked like I only had one low beam because the lamp was aimed up so high it wasn't even coming out the lens. I adjusted it down and it has been fine ever since. You may have checked this already, but it really did look like my left low beam was out.

    Cheers!
    Craig
