While in the process of carb cleaning, I noticed that the floats in my carb bowls don't have a metal adjustable tang to adjust their height. Can anyone confirm this? Also, the float needle seems to just slide in the float groove... does it have to slide in in any particular direction to seat correctly? I'm under the impression that it does not... I've got the FSM and for the most part, it's quite thorough. However, there are just some things that sit in the back of my head and I think I'd sleep better knowing 100% it's being done correctly. I don't feel comfortable letting some shop tear into my bike and I don't have any friends with bikes that I could call on for first hand help, either. I'm just of the opinion that if you're gonna do something, do it right the first time. Also, if there are any other tips to follow while I'm in the carbs, please let me know. Please forgive for these noob questions, but this is the first time I've delved this deeply into my bike and I've been able to find some real good information on this forum so far, so thank you again everybody!
Good on ya, mate for diggin in deep and for studying the FSM first. Yes, those carbs differed from earlier VFRs slightly, with non-adjustable float tabs and non-removable (as far as i know !?) float needle seats.
