Alright so I know this is a bit redundant with all the exhaust threads, but with all my searching throughout the inter web for a vintage 4into1 exhaust for my interceptor. I came across Yamaha vmax aftermarket 4into1 exhaust, now they look almost identical to the v4's except maybe the rotation in the frame isn't as drastic. Has anybody messed with this idea of using a vmax exhaust??

Sounds like a lot of cutting and welding ... might as well just make your own from scratch no?

I have Vance & Hines 2 into 1 headers for each bank (front and back) on my 83. Even with pipes made for the bike, clearances are tight and rear two cylinders are a nightmare. V&H used the stock downpipes on the rear cylinders, even those are a PIA to attach. Not worth the hassle to try and fit non-stock, not a startling performance gain.

Yeah Jeff it does sound like a bit of cutting would be involved. I do have the option of making my own, The engine is out of the frame I could try and mock something up. You think with all the old v4's sold back then there would still be a market for them today. Too bad

Your best bet would be to simply modify the stock ones ... it already mates up to the stock ports on the cylinder heads and routes through the frame properly. :)

My idea was to take that 4-1 setup, hack off the down pipes close enough to the where the stock headers would line up and then eye it up from there. I just want the 4-1 merge collector setup they offer for that. And try to fab my headers onto that. It's only money right I'm just feeling optimistic

I have a Kerker 4into1 on one of my '86 700s, and i still haven't tuned out the small flat spot between 4500-5000 rpms, a characteristic of 4-1 on a VFR.
