So I recently bought a 92 vfr750 in mass. This is a UK bike. I was told it was imported in 2012. The problem i have is the vin number is only 11 digits long. I can not find any info about this bike. The bike has two tags on it from the uk. One is for parking in kensington and chelsea which I know is well off. The other is unknown for wolstanton new castle. I far as I know it should have a 17 digit vin. The vin on the steering head is
rc36-2003###. I omitted the last 3 numbers for security. What vins do you guys have over there? Any information about this bike would be appreciated.

Third picture is of Vehicle Excise Duty disc more commonly known in the UK as Road Tax/Road Fund Licence/Tax Disc which was required to be displayed to prove you’d paid the tax. The one you have was issued by a Post Office in Wolstanton which is a suburb of Newcastle-under-Lyme near to Stoke-on-Trent, quite a way from Kensington and Chelsea which are in London. It was discontinued in 2014 and all proof of payment is now available online.
My 3rd gen UK VFR has a VIN with the same number of characters as yours and would be correct for a UK and presumably European machine.
Hope that’s of some use to you.

The one I have looks almost identical to your bike. It is RC36-20019** and the papers state that it's been commissioned to traffic on 04/1990.

Mine is, to my knowledge originally made for Germany. Some finnish guy had imported her to Finland at some point.

Someone has redone the seat vinyl, in black... And it is broken again. The front tabs that hold the seat in palce are some temporary fix ones that don't work. And it has a nice sounding Laser slip-on and a Wilbers rear shock. Otherwise it's stock.[IMG]

thanks for more info. Its interesting about the many differences between usa and uk bikes. So what i have learned is its a 90 model. Honda used an 11 digit vin till 96 in the uk. Lucky I had the reg number on the tags. Last mot was aug 2010 at 10550 miles. First registered aug 1990. I was told it was imported to the usa in 2012. The bike has 10880 miles now. Where has it been for 10 years? Looks like another winter project for me. I did all this to my 93 years ago so its not like a new bike. 20220917_155704.jpg

The registration information on the Parking Permit disk confirms bike was first registered between 1 August 1990 and 31 July 1991.

Checking online the bike last had vehicle tax paid for 2011.

It does not appear to have been officially exported.

    Hope this helps.
