Can anyone tell me if the starter clutch is interchangeable between any of the VFR generations? My 1993 starter clutch is shot and I'm looking for a used replacement but having a hard time finding one. I was just wondering if anyone has an extra one for sale or knows of another generation year that will work.

Gen 2 is the same part, installed one myself on Cundalini's scooter. I have others but the ones I have left are a bit on the rough side but should work just fine if you need.

Please correct me if I am wrong but as long as its not too worn or cracked, why don't you try getting new springs and rollers for the starter clutch..?

its another cheap way to go...and might solve your problem.

Not sure why but gen3 tends to develop cracks around the clutch body and need to be replaced. Only issue I have ever had with gen 2 is cleaning and basic parts. Not sure if it is the gen or the quality of the part years later.

Well Toe pretty much summed it up. I haven't even taken the side case off yet to look at the starter clutch to see if it is is cracked yet but I know so many people who have developed cracks that I figured it would be good to have a spare just in case the problem was attributed to the springs and rollers instead. Toe do you know right offhand whether or not the 86 VFR700 and the 86 VFR750 starter clutch parts are the same?
