Hi all. First day out of lurk mode, finally made the jump and brought home a 93 VFR on the weekend. It has the stock boat anchor of an exhaust collector on it, and after calling around and reading a bit I gather that no-one makes a full pipe for this bike.

Are there head pipes and mid (collector) pipes from any of the other years that do not have the huge and heavy collector on them, and that could be made to fit this bike? Any other options other than the motad header pipe$?

Honda changed the headers a bit in 94 so that now you don't have the swing-away muffler. What I did on my 93, was get a D&D for a 4th gen (94-97) and go to a muffler shop and have them make a mid pipe. Another, more expensive route would be to buy a set of headers (at least the rear portion) and put them on your 93, then buy an exhaust for a 94 - 97. The only change from 3rd to 4th gen on the exhaust appears to be the end of the header where the muffler connects. The mounting point on the passenger peg did not change.

    VFR exhaust

Cool, thanks. What I actually *want* to do is get rid of the heavy, bulky and ugly swing away exhaust and collector box/attachment swivel and put on a lighter standard pipe set-up (like most other bikes). If I read you correctly, I can do just that by getting some 94-97 head pipes and a slip on designed for the same 94-97 model.

I'll likely get a high level pipe that would keep it out of the way of wheel access in any event.

    Thanks again.

As I understand it, and from looking at the parts fiches, yes the 4th gen headers should fit the 3rd gen.
