I'm thinking of going +1 on the front sprocket of my 1986 VFR750.

When I went +1 on my VF500 the chain interfered with the sprocket cover ever so slightly....I'm wondering if the same thing will happen with my VFR.

Has anyone gone +1 on the front of their 2nd Gen?

Why, Matt ?? Trying to save petrol ?? Shift up earlier.

With a 6th gear to use to reduce rpms, there's not much point to +1

And your bike will be slower to accelerate in every gear, like neutering your cat.

I'm looking for a bit better Fuel Economy.
I use the bike for riding to work and weekend cruises...not worried about killing the acceleration of the bike.
It has more than enough gusto as it is.

I would say negative on going up, it has a hard enough time turning in 6th gear as it is.

In 6th gear the engine is really struggling past aboot 9k RPM. A taller sprocket is gonna make it worse and at legal highway speeds your RPM's are going to be low .

Hmmm....I didn't think the hwy speeds were that low...but it has been awhile.

I'll toss on an old 44 rear sprocket from my old VF500 and see how it goes this season.

    Thanks Toe, and SM.

+1 on the front might lower your rpm's while crusing but it will kill your gas mileage during acceleration
