2006 vfr vs 2006 sprint st

I am looking at either buying the 2006 sprint st or 2006 honda vfr. Anyone have any opinions either way..on which one to purchase...they are so close price wise. I know the sprint st is faster and I hear the vfr suspension and fit and finish is higher...but im looking for real world people out there who have opinions.

I have owned 4 VFRs 97,98,02,00. Three differnet models and I have to say I loved them all. Before I bought my 02 VFR I thought I would try something else and that was a Honda 919. I hated the bike. It wasn't because it was a bad bike, it just wasn't for me. I for one like the Sprint, I never rode one but I like it. I would have to go with the VFR. It doesn't do one thing well, it just works and believe me there is enough usable power and you can put some serious mile on one. Also by me there is not a dealer too close by so service would be an issue. I am actual trying to sell my 00 with missing fairings pretty cheap 3,500 to put down on a new bike, Probally a VFR, The new Kawi Concord, or Sprint. I will probably stick to what I KNOW I will like. This is just my two cents.

Before I bought my VFR I looked very seriously at the ST. I rode the ST several times and really liked it. From what I understand there are no significant reliability issues with the ST. In a lot of ways I prefered the ST. It has better bottom end power and I really like the sound of the triple BUT I bought the VFR. Here's why, its a Honda the overall reliability of the VFR is long proven and the resale value is better, triumphs depreciate a lot. The fit and finish on the VFR is better. The after market for the VFR is better. This means that if there is something that isn't quite right for you about the VFR you can generally get a reasonably priced after market solution. Finally the VFR does everything really well. Having now owned my viffer for 6 months I am very happy with it. The longer I have it the more I appreciate how well it works. It is very forgiving, has character and just does everything so well. There are a couple of little things I would like to improve, the front suspension really needs better springs and the seat has a couple of hard spots which are a bit irritating on longer rides. Both of which are easily fixable and on my list. Final comments no regrets about buying the viffer and I still think it was the right decision.

 

I've sat on the sprint and ridden some other triumphs and thought they were nice although the fit and finish is not up to honda standards. I love my viffer though and would recommend it to anyone. I would consider what your dealer support would be for both bikes. That being equal get the honda you'll be happy.

 

This is a tough one..NOT! have a friend here I ride with that has a Sprint. Nice bike but theres just something about it that doesn't work for me. I mean yes it's got the power over the VFR and the brakes feel like they are better compered to the 5th gen, not sure if thats me cuz I know how to use brakes and it's the linked thing that has me thou the fit and finsh and over all user ride friendly of the vfr is what makes it a no brainer to me, Only bike I feel that eevn come closer than the Sprint is the Aprilia Futura, now there's one that can really get ya thinking. if it wasn't for the dash layout I'd problabay have one, somethng about Vtwin power, still my 97 holds it own. Keep it simple, get the VFR you've never second guess yourself once down the road.

 

I was considering the same options at the beginning of the year. I was really sold on the Sprint St. In fact I tried to buy two different bikes. It never worked out so I started looking for a VFR. I really feel like both are great bikes. I ended up with a 03 VFR. I have ridden with a guy who has an 05 Sprint. Once I saw them side by side I like the looks of the VFR better. To me the Sprint looks like it was put together from a parts bin. The seating position is about the same. The stock seat is better on the Sprint. (you will need to buy a sargent or corbin for the VFR) The 1/4 mile times suggest the bikes are too close to notice a difference. I liked the Sprint because it was different and there were not that many around. I like the VFR because there are more around and so you end up making more friends. Well at least I did. Good luck with your decision. Either way I don't think you will be dissapointed, but if I were to do it again I would definitely buy the VFR.
