Good question. I don't see why not so long as the wireing harness recall has been done. But I don't know for sure.

i have read that the 06 fuel injectors are bigger? the 04 and 06 have different part numbers. is this true and why are they? is the ecu the same on both years.i would think they are different due to the vtec engagement

OK. You got me there. Like I said, I really don't know for sure. Hopefully Toecutter and or Tinkerinwithstuff will pipe in. They are far more in the know than I am. Actually a lot of guys here are. I just would have thought that basically, they are the same engine with the new being more refined so why not just bolt in?

I believe that mechanically it would be a straight replacement. Bringing the 06 ECU with the engine would align the programming with any subtle changes the engine may have embodied. As already suggested, bring the harness with the 06 engine as well.

Sounds like a ten beer project, give or take...

The better question here is what happened to the 04 motor? :sorrow:

I would not think twice aboot using an 06 engine, but only the engine. Injectors and electrical need to stay with the 04 but I would run the 06 stator.
