So today I set out to find a way to smooth out the 5000 rpm flat spot that I've been noticing in my bike. I found this article PAIR and Flapper mod, with bonus snorkel mod for VFR | Johnny Chadda .se I decided to go ahead and do the things it said to do. Disabled the flapper valve and the PAIR valve. Also I yanked the snorkel. Bike sounds great, I already had a Two Bros. slip on exhaust and I like the sound and the flat spot is gone. Also much better at lower RPMs. Problem though. Whenever I rev the engine are at a steady speed and let off the throttle, it pops a bunch, of its backfiring I will put everything back because I don't want to cause any damage. If its another thing that isn't harmful, I don't mind the popping. Just hoping for you guys' opinions. Thanks

I'm assuming you just unplugged the connector to the PAIR valve, this actually opens the valve all the time which causes the backfire/popping in the exhaust. I ran mine like that for a while before I got my blockoff plate kit and installed it. Shouldn't hurt anything, I kinda liked it, I allmost wish I left it that way but once I took the system off I wasn't putting it back on. Makes more room to work on things, less cluttered.
