2001 (preV-tech) Oil filter and sump plug

I've searched for a while but couldn't find much help with searches so just gunna ask.

I need to get an oil filter for my 2001 VFR. I'm seeing two different models of filter on sites (I don't mean the two different lengths) K&N 204 or K&N 303.... (Of are these just the different lengths?)

Ebay has deals for filter and sump plug but there are two different listings.. Some say they fit 1997-2007, others say only 1998-20000 others 01-07... Is the sump plug the same for the last of the good ones and the V-tech?

If the sump plugs are the same and the 204 or 303 both fit then I guess it's fairly easy to get what i need from now on. I've boycotted the local bike shops due to repeted shithouse work so wont even waste my time calling them for a straight answer.
