I'm have a problem with my 2000 VFR. During hard accelration it boggs down at about 7000rpm than a second later it is back running hard. It will do that through the first three gears. I have cleaned the air filter out. Any ideas on what it might be?

Clogged injectors? Try using some fuel injection cleaner.

Starter valve sync? When was it last done?

    Plugs? Replaced when?

Not really enough info to diagnose here, certainly not by me anyway.

I agree with the dawg....could be some clogged injectors, or starter valve issue. The only thing about clogged injectors that would be weird is how it comes back on after 7k RPM.

I have something similar to this... Although it happens until about 6k rpms...

I'm not quite sure if its just the lack of power before 6k on this bike or if its something with the bike...

I get 42 mpg mix of highway and town... so i can't imagine its a problem.

What does your mileage look like?

Check oil level. I bought a used 2002 VFR and I had the same type of problem. I changed the air filter , used injector cleaner and a higher grade of gas and nothing worked. I checked the oil glass located on the side and couldn't see a level of oil because whoever had changed the oil last filled it right to the top. I changed the oil and put the correct level of oil in and it ran worse than ever. I was ready to take it in to the dealer but the next day I took it for a ride and it ran perfectly and I haven't had a problem since.
