    Hi guys,

To cut a long story short, I've had a few problems with the VFR's FI over the last couple of weeks. Took it into Honda to get it looked at, it took them two weeks to order in the "diagnostic tool" to look at it. Anyway that's against the point, they finally looked at it today and I got a call from the mechanic saying that the MAP sensor is faulty, which I had suspected.

The mechanic then quoted me $630 AUS for a replacement MAP sensor alone not including labour. My question is - is this quote ridiculous? does a replacement MAP sensor really cost this much?

Also how long does it take to fit a MAP sensor... is it an easy job?

    I'm riding a 2000 VFR 800 FI.

ALSO - If I got a Dynojet Power Commander and removed the 02 sensors would this fix the problem?

    Cheers

    Tell `em their dreaming!!
The map sensor is stuck on the back of the airbox.I reckon you could get one from the wreckers.Judging from the picture in the manual, you shouldn`t even have to pull the air box off to replace it.
Have you got a manual?because that will guide you through the self diagnostic
    FI procedure.
You can download one at ozvfr.
    Best of luck.

P.S I think that even with the pc2 and 02 eliminator fitted, you would still need the map sensor.

I just had a look at some other forums about the FI lighting up,and some have had just loose connections,or even water in the ecm above the rear wheel.
But it`s good that you got it sorted out.
Where are you in O.Z?I`m in Melbourne.
Are you signed up with ozvfr?

yeah I'm really glad to have her back in top shape.

I'm up in Townsville at the moment, guessing Melbourne would be slightly colder? haha

I haven't signed up there yet, I'll get onto that now.
