I'm new to motorcycles and the VFR is my 1st bike. I have had 2 motocrosses before but not any road bikes.

I repaired a LOT of car transmissions but since it doesn't work the same way, a big question remains to me.

It is normal or not to hear (feel) the transmission mainshaft bearing when releasing the clutch in neutral? A co-worker told me that his R6 was doing the same (40k miles). Mine has 18k miles.

None of other bikes I've tried while learning to drive had this sound. (GS500, Shadow, Vulcan, Buell Blast).

A mechanic I don't really trust told me that it was normal. This same guy told me a running temp within 140F-160F was normal so I don't trust him anymore.

Are VFR's recognized to have this annoying bearing noise/shaking?

    Thank you!
