What a nice surprise - to see 2 VFR's in this month's Motorcyclist magazine. There'a a 6th generation in an ad for Dunlop Roadsmart tires (page 68). And then on page 152 in the Smart Money section there is a writeup on the Ducati ST2, with a 5th gen VFR mentioned under the "Also Smart" column.

When you 5th gen owners read that little paragraph, I'm sure you will appreciate it as much as I did....

Hey Britt - I just received my edition in the mail yesterday and read the same article in the Smart Money section.
I'm sure all of the 5th Gen Owners are going to jump on this like white on rice, but being a 6th Gen owner I have a question. What does the article mean by "dumbed-down '02 Interceptor." Just to give you the whole story, below is the entire write-up.
"Arguably the best broadband sportbike of all time, Honda's fifth-generation VFR ruled from 1998 till it was replaced by the sexed-up, dumbed-down '02 Interceptor. Found a nice one? Buy it now or wallow in regret the rest of your life."

Yeah, I just got done reading that issue. Got it yesterday. I figured it would get some 6th gen members all wound up with their "dumbed down" comment.

Hell, take it with a grain of salt...everybody could hate my bike, but I love it, and that is all that matter to this gringo!

hmm, lets see the enrichener thing was gone before then... uh, the gauges are bout the same... the vtec you think would not be called dumbed down as it is more tech... Im not sure what they could mean, but I agree that if you find a deal on a 5g you should get it. I have often thought of buying another just so that if mine dies I'd have it. The thing that keeps me from it is they run forever...

That just proves what we ALL should know, the 5th Gen is the superior Generation.

Speaking of the Dunlop RoadSmart Tires I just got a set on the bike this weekend. And man they are some great tires. They hold the road extremely well and turn in excellent. Couldn't be happier.

As with any first year revision there are going to be hick-ups. "Dumbed down" sure I'll buy that but the later years were a vast improvement over the '02 and (in my opinion) the 5th Gen.

Just stirring the pot a little!

There's nothing like the rush of the VTEC when it kicks in! :bolt:
