Greetings from the hills of Tennessee! Always had an itch to get a bike and finally got on a bike for the first time 2 weeks ago and then after sitting on about 100 different bikes I chose an 06 interceptor this past Saturday. For all you veterans-give me some scoop on some basic upgrades that a first time rider should have. I bought the pearl black without the abs. Catch up with you soon.

I just got mine May 19 2006 ......It's a 2005 VRF800 Red.....my suggestion is enjoy the bike first give your break in period time to adjust....get comfortable with your new bike enjoy what it has to offer .....then later go for your upgrades...muffler etc..I'm enjoying this bike as is....it has enough toys as is...

    ENJOY...Ride safe / stay vertical....

    Falcon

Hi, if you are a first time rider, just leave the bike stock and learn to ride and develop your skills. The bike is way more capable than you are today. The most important piece of equipment now and later is your brain. The mental part of riding is important to keep you alive. I've seen too many rookies go down in the first 5000 miles. - Take courses, read books, practice, practice, practice, then do a track school. (I recommend Reg Pridgemore's CLASS school.)Then as you progress you may notice that you would like more bike capability (and can tell the difference), then address from there. Best of luck to you and keep the rubber side down!

    Ride Well

I would have to agree with falcon and mello. As a first time rider, take some time to learn the bike as well as new techniques. I am sure your bike is plenty powerful as it is right out of the crate. :) There will be plenty of time for mods later. :-D

I appreciate the advise, honestly i was thinking more about styling upgrades more than speed. I think this bike is going to suit me fine for a long time in that category. I just wanted to make sure that there wasnt some ideas as to how you guys made your look that much sharper. fyi the bike looks bad ass enough to me already! Thanks again.
