So, today I had to go up to my family's area for a memorial service for my cousin. I decided to take the bike seeing how it was a nice day. When I left at 8 am the temp outside was about 65 deg. F. Beautiful start to the day. So, I took off and rode. This was the longest continuous trip so far that I have taken on my bike. I've had it since Aug. of last year and I've only really rode around my area here in CT. So today, I rode from CT, up to Cape Cod, Mass. Traffic was light through Providence and all the way up to the bridge going onto the Cape. It was about 140 miles up to where I was going and I only made one quick stop (had too much coffee in the morning). I went to the memorial service, then to the family's house for lunch. Hung out there, then went to my wife's family's house for dinner (both of our family's live on the Cape, lucky us). Hung out there for a while, then came home. Round trip was about 350 miles total riding. My setup is pretty much stock, and the ride was good for a 16 year old bike. I was comfortable the whole trip. I've never really ridden that far, so I've got a couple of ache's and pains, which I expected. But the bike performed beautifully. Comfortable, great handling in and out of traffic, especially on the rotary's. All in all I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I can't wait to take her out further. I'll have to work up to that though.

Congrats, sounds like a nice ride. I had my 1st long (300 mile) round trip on my 5th gen about 10 years ago, something I'll never forget and I've done 65K since then. Hope you have many more good, safe trips!

Been a long time since I've done a 350 mile ride LOL!

Perfect bike for such an adventure.

Longer rides are addictive. There is something about long rides that is exhilarating and calming at the same time. If it wasn't for the aches and pains (age, gravity and injuries), I'd do it more often.

Glad you had a good trip. VFR's do seem to be an excellent all-day companion.

The other thing that I noticed along the trip was all the people on the Cape staring at the bike. There was alot of traffic up there with the summer tourists and 4th of July weekend and alot of stop and go time once I got off the highway, but it was definitely worth the few aches and pains. Can't wait for the next one.
