    Hello everyone,

I've been riding my '84 vf750f for five seasons now and have a question about performance. On this site I've heard it said that interceptor's have good torque down low and remember there they're a four cylinder bike around 8000 rpm where a pretty sharp kick in the pants comes in. While overall I'm pretty satisfied with my bikes performance and believe its running pretty strong, I have to say I don't feel much of a performance increase at the higher revs; it just seems to keep pulling consistantly from 4500 rpm to the 10500 rpm redline.

Should I be feeling more on top? The bike has full kerker pipes and a k&n airfilter. I'm not sure if the jetting is stock or not, I'll try to get ahold of the original owner who installed the pipes. Any thoughts?

P.S. the cams were replaced with a nice clean pair over the winter. High rpm used to be poor from pitted cams but thats no longer an issue.

I think the sharp kick in the pants you're describing would be the guys with the 6th Gen talking about the VTEC transition.

I don't remember a top end hit on any of the VF700's I've riden in the past.

    KC-10 FE out...

My '83 pulls smoothly all the way up to redline. I don't think you'll feel a "kick" on a 1st gen VF. Now, the 6 Gen bikes...WAHOOO!!! 6500 and up.

Ok, thats reassuring. I've been alittle worried that I might not be getting enough fuel on top end. I'll still try to find out if the jets are stock, I heard my setup really is better one size larger on main and slow jets. Thanks guys.

Once I hit 8k rpms on my bike there is a definite difference, but that just might be me.

Sounds like a carb sync and pilot screw adjustment may be in order.

HOWEVER, if the bike has been jetted for the exhaust and filter, you may not experience the "kick in the pants" others are describing.

Honda leaned out the bike right where the EPA tested emissions (4-6K approx). On higher rpms, the mixture was richened up.
