    Hi dudes
The rear shock on my 5th gen 1998 VFR had lost all its damping after 29500 miles. Cosmetically it was trashed too (if that matters?).
Thought all about the options then went for a Showa made to the same spec as the OEM one (part number 52400-MBG-E01) but sold 'unbranded' for a VFR for nearly 50% less (£300 in the UK). The attached pictures show the two shocks. Appearance wise, the looks are almost identical.
In terms of ride it feels, well, identical to a new OEM one. It would be nice if I had a shock dyno to really make some accurate comparisons but from my 'seat of the pants' dyno it feels spot on and made me realise just how shot my old shock was. The improvement in ride quality is enormous.
It looks like Showa are clearing out stocks of VFR800 shocks for less cash by using ever so slightly different branding.
The shock was purchased from Dave Silver Spares in the UK and it fits 1998 - 2001 models.

    Any one tried these shocks?
