1990 VFR750F main fuse/starter relay issues

I need some help. I got a 1990 vfr that had been sitting for a long time and I finally turned it over the other day. It took a while to get it running but eventually it did. When I turned it off and restarted it, the main fuse blew. In talking with the Honda guys they said that its unusual for that to just blow like that and that the problem is most likely elsewhere. I did order a new main fuse housing/starter relay but I'd like to find the issue so the new one doesn't just blow also. Anybody have any ideas or experience with this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks
