    hi all.

came back from a weeks holiday to find bike dead (battery), however, i charged it up on trickle and all seemed well.

BUT, upon doing a 15mi run to work (@ about 60-90mph) i noticed that after 6k and up to redline ,the needle fluctuates quite noticeably also a distinct lack of power and the headlamp dims (hi lo hi lo) in time with the turn or dims when applying brakes (does this at all through the rev range)

batt is getting 14.80v from Gen, the AC voltage on the yellow gen leads are ok. getting new battery tomorrow.

    anthing i may have overlooked???

    thanks in advance.

yeah ,, just get the new battery... you should be ok then.... your current battery is how old? a week isnt really enough time to kill one.

ok, have replaced battery, similar problem (rev needle still jumping). but im getting about 14-14.5v at the batt running engine @ approx 2k rpm and about 30v ac between the yellow leads from generator (10v ac from each yellow to chassis ground)...

so to me that says the gen and reg/rec ar both functioning ok. so im suspecting the output from the CDI to the tacho? as surely if the pickup coil in the gen was faulty the bike would missfire?

help gratefully recieved, its driving me mad.
