I have a question on adjusting the float height on my VTR 250. I have a 1988 Honda VTR 250 factory manual that states if the float height is not correct then to bend the float arm until it just contacts the float valve. This is my first time adjusting floats so I am confused on how to do this. I understand how to measure the float height and mine are not set right. Any help would be appreciated anf thank you. Tony
Remember you don't check float height with the carbs completely upside down. The weight of the float will depress the little spring loaded button and give a false reading. You have to rotate the carbs for each float to where it "just contacts the float valve" without depressing the button. If your reading is still off, then you bend the tab on the float as needed. I have probably had to actually adjust the "float height" like once, maybe twice in the DOZENS of V4/V2 carbs I've been in or rebuilt. There's usually no reason for them to change unless someone was in there that didn't know what they were doing. On the same note, I've so far NEVER had to replace viton tipped float valves, or the seats. They usually just need cleaning. The surface where the float bowl o-ring seals to the carbs to the farthest "bottom" of the float's curvature is the reading spot. Good luck. P.S. I'm building a custom VTR250 right now.
