my chain is worn and needs replacing. i've been looking into doing it myself but i have a question about the chain types. it looks to me that there are two styles. 1# being where the master link has a locking pin that is placed on the chain when applied and 2# where the two rods on the master link stick out further so they can be hammered to mushroom the metal to keep the chain together.

i've been looking at these two chains.

now i've looked up some videos on how to replace the chain and i feel confident i can do it. i would rather use the chain that has the locking pin for simple convenience then mash the master link.

sorry if this is a stupid question i'm looking for some help.
    thanks

I prefer the rivet style myself, I have had a couple of problems in the past with clips but never with the rivet style.

Am I the only one here that thinks $60 is a little cheap for a quality O-ring chain?

Rivet master link here too, put in place by a chain tool press.

Cut/grind the old one off.....tool of choice is up to you...and yes you will need a tool to spread the rivet....do not get to jiggy with the tool.....the spread on the master should match the other links. If you smish it too much you will have problems with the o'rings getting crushed. Really it is kitten's play....do not over think it.

Not familiar with the brand but if you lube it early and often you should be fine.

"Not familiar with the brand"= Chinese !

A quality O-ring chain for your bike, made in Japan, costs $90 at a minimum.

You need to replace both worn out sprockets also.
