1986 vfr700f tail light help

Boy this makes me feel dumb, but my vfr did not have a license plate light (bracket) so I purchased one, and to save my a-- I can not figure out how it bolts to the rear. I think there may be a piece missing or something. Can some one post a picture of theirs so I can figure out where I am going wrong, please...oh my license plate bracket has the light and the thing with the two bolts on it...Yea I know....

Thanks all for the reply, but I am just not very clear on what I am looking for, I will post pictures of my problem (Monday) when I get back to my shop and maybe that will explain things more clear. I thing something on mine is either missing or altered. From the rear there is nothing that hangs down..
