Hi guys. I have a 1986 Honda vfr 750. I had some tune up work done and the mechanic said my clutch was gone. Shows how much I know because I hadn't noticed. I felt it slip very occasionally but it didn't seem bad.

Anyway, looking for some help here before I take the clutch cover off. It looks like I will only need to buy a 'clutch kit' that includes clutch plates and replacement springs. I'll need a gasket too, right? I see that Bike Bandit has a kit for the vfr 750. Also, does anyone have dimensions for the spanner that I'll need to hold the plates? I have access to a lathe, mill and welder so I can make something up but I wanted to see if anyone here could describe what I need before I take the cover off. Does the socket have a special shape?

    Thanks

Much easier than that. Pull cover and remove the bolts that retain the springs and slide the plates out. Install is reverse. Very simple. If the basket is damaged it may be a little trickier.Inner most friction plate is unique and two metal rings ride in side of it and one is directional so make note of this when removed. The 5 bolts that retain the springs are not very strong so do not over tighten them as the break very easy.
