i'm slowly rebuilding a dumped low milage magna. as i am getting close to finishing i wanted to replace the fuel filter. the carbs have been rebuilt and installed and this was to be the last step. EXCEPT i can't believe where the filter/pump is! it seems to be in a totally inaccessable location under the battery. following the honda manual(which is very vague) i removed the battery and it's holder, the coolant overflow tank and the manual said to remove the spark boxes(they don't seem removable). then remove one bolt and open the "boss" and lift out the reserve tank. that seems impossible, the tank seems larger than the opening around it. i've tried everything. i can't even lift the tank out of the "boss" and the filter/pump is under a metal bracket under it. it looks like the only access is to remove the wheel, fender and swing arm, a huge job for just the filter. i see some of the posts here suggest bypassing the pump/filter altogether. any thoughts? i can't believe they would put it where it is.
