    Hi All,

Can anyone recommend what paint to buy for my 1985 Interceptor 500? I'd like to try and match the original red and white. Also, any links to get the decals cheap would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your help!

    Shasta White (NH138)
    Fighting Red (R134)
    Candy Aleution Blue (PB127)

Google and eBay are your friends. ;)

A source for the paint in those specific colors might be a little hard to find. On a bike that is 30+ years old, all three colors should be included in a repaint.

Try one or more of the sites that address vintage Japanese built motorcycles for both the paint and the decals.

SOW's crack may be smoking from overuse by his stable of girlymen. ColorRite is a source to be sure. I figure by the time the OP gets done with buying all the stuff they recommend, the paint will be worth more than the bike even before painting starts..

I agree. The luggage will be great for trucking all that paint and other stuff around. :)

I was actually just looking into this last night, matching the Honda colors is expensive. I'm considering doing something clever with PlastiDip (don't hate) until I can save up to repaint the whole bike back to original. I'd also like to reupholster the seat and maybe upgrade the cushioning, but that's a whole other thread.

I bought decals to re do a tank on a 1985 Suzuki GSX-R750F. They had them in stock, were priced well, and came highly recommended. If they don't have them, they do have a project that gets them made up for you. Did a great job for me, AFE Graphics.com.

    Decals!

The first site I mentioned got back to me and said that yes they have them, but on their Honda site. That's called CB Decals.com. They gave me a good product at a good price.

Some local sign shops can make adhesive graphic for many purposes. Online outfits many times have several websites going at the same time for bikes, cars, and general graphics.

I can't speak for all bikes. In most cases the adhesive graphics on gas tanks are buried in clearcoat to my knowledge, that clearcoat is slighty different than the standard stuff. One slosh of gas on much of that type graphic material that is not overcoated will affect the adhesive. This includes the wrap crap that some are using on tanks.. Not a great idea.. IMO

Of course using the IMO just aboot any one can say almost anything they want to.. Donald Trump is a prime example. He invented "IMO" or so he says..

Some local sign shops can make adhesive graphic for many purposes. Online outfits many times have several websites going at the same time for bikes, cars, and general graphics.

... Opinion of course and a shitload of hands on experience. ...My Canadian to English translator program played backward still sez that some has the connotation of not all.

IMO

...Somebody has to speak for some bikes. So far as I know only HD's have a voice module that comes on every 500 miles and tells the harleydood it's time to visit the shop or Botique. The best way to test an applique to see if spilt gas is going to soften the adhesive is to spring for a small pre-made graphic and dump some gas on the darn thing. A sign shop might even give you a sample if you ask nice and don't walk in thinking you know more aboot it than they do.

Of course using the IMO just aboot any one can say almost anything they want to.. Donald Trump is a prime example. He invented "IMO" or so he says..

....Our boy Trump says all kinds of things. By 1dec16 he may clam up..or move to Canada. There should be several opinions on that.

I heard El Trumpo was gonna open up a new version of his real estate school and sell chunks of Canada. I'm waiting for the Beeb to crash or end up looking like a pale version of Lil Wayne.

Can we keep The McKenzie Bros and Captain Kirk too?

    TIA
