    Hey guys,
A whirring noise has developed in my 1985 VF Interceptor. It's coming somewhere from the front of the bike. It is not a constant thing, it suddenly "switches" on abruptly at about 40 MPH and changes pitch from low to high proportionate to speed travelled and REVS. It cancels as you are shifting down to stop, again going from that high pitch to low before abruptly stopping. It starts suddenly enough at speed that it sounds like a mechanism such as a fan engaging, just pretty loud.
I checked the front wheel and there is no rubbing or interference from the brakes or anything physically touching the wheel.
After consulting the manual about "gear howl" (howl would certainly be an accurate description) I checked and topped up the oil, still present.
It seems to be more of a problem the colder the outside temp is and the less warmed up the bike.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers
    Mike
