Not mine or me, I know better than to rev an ice cold motor to 8K in neutral, but listen to the valve tick...

Another one...skip to 2:40 for engine start and valve tick, especially 3:00 - 3:12, or watch the entire video and see if you can guess why the fuel tubes cracked....

One more, 0:30 - 0:40, listen to that tick, but be warned, at 0:43 it will blow your speakers so turn it down quick....

Found about 5 more videos of 84-85 700's and they all have that same tick. So is this ticking normal in these engines or do they ALL have bad cams/rocker arms?

due for a valve adjust this winter. 74ullc any chance of getting a pik of your
Kawaski Ltd, I've got a 76 that I just finished restoring.

I need to get a fresh pic of the KZ, I've done more work to it since I last took decent pics. I would right now but it's raining, the only reason I am on the forum right now, supposed to be out riding!

I'll get some pics when it clears up.

These are not my videos or my bike. Just using these as an example. The bike in the first video has a wheezing whirring sound like an old worn out dryer with a slipping belt. My bike does not make that sound, but it does make the sharp ticking or clicking sound, but not as loud as on that bike.

I've now put 250 miles on mine since I had it and its running great. Zero hesitation, no coughing....just roll that throttle and go! It does feel a little buzzy in the higher revs, not sure if that's normal or not. But it feels great cruising down the highway at 80mph.

Two mechanics have listened to it running and both said it sounds fine to them, but honestly, the bike is older than either of them! Just wondering how much, if any, of a valve tick is normal on these 700 and 750 engines.

I bought a new 1985 Interceptor 750 in 1986, and have another 85' 750 again. The ticking in the shorteer video from the guy with his first bike, his valve ticking is louder than my machines, but not unreasonable, in my opinion. The second video, from Ewa, has big issues! I don't hear a valve tick, as much as an engine knocking! Bad bearing maybe, or con rod issue? It isn't running properly either. Do you know why the fuel tubes cracked?

You're correct, the second one sounds pretty bad. I was focusing on the sharp ticking when he revs the engine but that sounds more like chain noise huh?

The tubes broke because he took the carbs off the aluminum airbox half. Guess he's not a member here or he would have known better.

I just need to make my own video as using examples is not the same. I'm sure a Galaxy S4 Active can make a decent video.
