Hi Everyone: My name is Greg and I'm in Milford, Ohio. Just made an impulse buy of a 84 700 on Ebay. I just finished a year long rebuild of a 1980 Suzuki GS550E and was looking for a new project to keep me busy. Found this bike near home and got it for $455. It was listed as a parts bike but it had a clean title and was advertised as running but without any power. Bike had sat outside for some period of time so cosmetically it is a little rough but is cleaning up well. When I arrived to pick it up on Sat. it started right up but sounded weak and wouldn't take throttle without dieing. After it idled for a while I noticed that the front 2 cylinders were cold. First thought was maybe it's just a coil. PO had rebuild the brakes, carbs cleaned up the electrical system, new tires etc and put about $600 it parts into it but could not get it to run with any power and lost interest. Started poking around yesterday and decided to pull the tank and see if I could swap the coils and get the front jugs firing. Got the tank off and looked at the coils and notice right away that the right hand side one had one of the spade connectors dis-connected. Thought to myself "It can't be that simple," I plugged it in and hit the starter. Bike coughed out a big cloud of smoke, revved up to 4000 rpm and sat there purring like a kitten. Quick adjustment down to 1200 rpm and I'm all set. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Next on the agenda is to rebuild the leaking fork seals and continue the cleaning process. If I get it mechanically in good shape I will prep it for painting over the winter. Sure I'll have lots of questions but I've learned a lot on here already. Greg
