I have a friend who has owned some of them. They were not good bikes. But a lot of good came after them!

I have updated the suspension and wheels (5.5" & 3.5" for modern radials). It is a completely different bike. Looks aside, this is one fun bike now. But I realize they are not for everybody.

Has been completely trouble free as well, I've owned it for 20+ years.

That would change everything! I love the looks of the FZ line, but after I renovated one and rode it...I sold it! You have more skill and patience to upgrade these things. :)

    I would rock yours Cap'n.

When I worked for Honda In 84 We had a brand new one on the floor for a year and 1/2 before we sold it. I could not get anyone to even look at it. I guess it was really heavy and nobody felt it was that much faster then the VF700F. I remember it was kind of expensive also.

I heard from an esteemed member from here that they weren't the safest things to ride.

    Yep. But...

With the correct suspension it "loses" weight, you def know it's a 1000 when you roll on the throttle, and not when you bought years after it came out.

And it's also unique and I think better looking than the 700/750 while being similar. The lower height of the headlight and upper cowl just makes the lines flow so much better in my opinion. And it sounds killer.

I love your bike. The lowers and the seat cowl work so well together. The Comstars don't hurt looking at either.

I need to get my seat cowl painted and installed. I finally sourced all of the hardware.

I may be able to get both our cowls painted. Mine has some scratches around the 1000 decal. I know this cat that can duplicate the decal but hand painted… does great work.
I’ll check with him next time I get something painted.

    Yes please!!!

We used to have a guy here in the NW that did the same thing. He was an absolute artist, we used him for customer and internal jobs. Unfortunately he retired and I need him right now on another job. Painters around here are rare now for some reason.
