Hi Guys This may seem like a silly question but I have yet to find the answer. After replacing head gasket and getting everything back together I'm down to carburetor andjustment issues (I think). I rebuilt the carb but I have to sync them now via the Pilot screws. Any tips on doing this would be appreciated- do you have to use a portable tachometer or can you fudge it by ear? Also, at my unadjusted stage now I am getting gasoline coming out or the carburetor (overflow??) tube (ie the one that attaches to the top nipple on the carb). Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Gas is too expensive to shoot directly onto my garage floor!! Thanks fellas
Gas from vent tube=leaking float needle/s or bad float/s pilot screws don't synch carbs but synch screws do
Sounds like you need a FSM. Here are some factory manual that will give you the info you need to work on and adjust carbs. The first is an "R" model. The second link is a V4 site. The last set of manuals are basically 700/750 with a 1000 Hayes manual. Hayes/Clymer manuals are iffy. Last resort type thing. Pilot screw adj and snyc adj are two different adjustments, as squirrel points out. All carb build/adjustments are basically the same for the VF engines.
