Can anyone help? My 84 VF1000 rear shock depresses when I ride and bottoms out. When I get off and park it, the shock springs back. I weigh 180 so I don't think that's the problem. I took the shock out and called all the dealers in St Louis and they all said they could not rebuild it. My finances are not up to the $500 to $800 for a new one. I am looking for a used one, however, I might be back in the same boat in short order with used parts. Can I use a standard spring loaded shock if the dimensions and bolt up are the same? Any help is appreciated. Does any after market shock company make an affordable replacemant $100 or less? Thanks, Moy
That's pretty common. The dealer is correct in that it cannot be repaired, so going a different route is really your only option.
