1984 750f disassembled the carbs and they are green on the inside...?

Bike wouldnt run, took carbs out and the guts are green. Float needles are 'rusted' in place on 3 of them. What the heck is going on! Any ideas what to soak with?

What's the best way to clean them? The varnish on it is like glue..
I'd be a little worried to scrape it off...and the needle valves are really stuck. I have them soaking in gas trying to free them up.

 

Looks like you may need to use a mild to moderate strength spray type carb cleaner.

 

If they where mine i would consider paying a shop to do an ultrasonic cleaning.

p.s. all those brass jets are trashed.

 

I had that on a dirt bike carb. I tried about every solvent I could think of and finally sent them off for an ultrasonic cleaning. It's nasty stuff.

 

Soak in "Simple Green" or somethin similar for 24 hours, wash in hot water, blow dry with compressed air. Green gunk means it had fuel in it for long periods and it dryed up several times.
